Do you know that if you change the language on your computer, the changes will not be effected on your internet browser and other programs?
- You can change the language on Windows and Mac.
- The language of your internet browser will not change if you change the language on your computer.
- Changing the language on your PC will affect the text used in windows and menus.
From French to Arabic, the Microsoft Windows Operating System (OS) allows a user to change the display language from one to another. If you change your computer’s language, it will affect the text used in windows and menus. The option for changing the language is also available on Mac.
However, some restrictions are imposed while changing the language on your computer and it depends on the version of Windows. However, changing the default computer language will not have any effect on your internet browser’s language and other programs.
Here’s how you can change the language on your computer:
Step 1: After you start your computer, click the Windows logo present on the bottom-left corner of the screen. To open Start, you can also press the Windows key on your keyboard.
Step 2: Now, click on Settings. You can find the ‘Settings’ option at the lower-left side of the Start Window.
Step 3: In the middle of the Settings window, click Time and Language. After this, click on the region and language tab present on the left side of the window.
Step 4: Click on ‘Add a language’ option. You will find this option below the ‘Languages’ heading.
Step 5: Choose a language and click on the language that you want to use on your computer.
Step 6: You will have to select a dialect by clicking on your preferred language option. However, in some cases, the option is not available for your selected language.
Step 7: Click on added language to expand your language box. You will find the option below your current default language in the ‘Languages’ section of the window.
Step 8: In the next step, click Options to open the language options window.
Step 9: You will have to download the language pack by clicking on the Download option below the ‘Download language pack’.
Step 10: Click Back and click the language again and then click ‘Set as default’. Your selected language will be set as the default for all the built-in menu apps and other display options.
Step 11: Restart your computer. After your PC restarts and you sign back into your account, your new language will be in place.
Here’s how you can change the language on Mac:
Step 1: Click on the Apple menu at the top-left corner of the screen. You will see a drop-down menu.
Step 2: Click on System Preferences near the top of the drop-down menu. Click on Language and Region.
Step 3: Click on + sign. You will find the option in the left corner of the ‘Preferred language’ box. This will prompt a pop-up window with different languages.
Step 4: Scroll down to select the language of your choice and click Add. Now, click Use [Language] when prompted. Your computer’s default display language will be set to the added language.
Step 5: You can also click and drag the language that you have added from the bottom of the ‘Preferred languages’ box at the top. Restart your computer to complete the process.
